The blog has been moved to WordPress, and the name has been changed to Crystal Wolves because those two words have never been used in the title of anything ever. Later, Tumblr, thanks for being alternately intuitive and discouraging.

Dominic West reading excerpts from British novels... →
This is literally fifteen minutes of West reading aloud, so Wire fans only, I guess.  If that didn’t scare you off then this is definitely worth watching, even if it’s only to hear him talk in his real accent for more than a minute. Honestly, though, couldn’t they have at least switched out the teacup for a mini bottle of Jameson? Oh, and if you liked this, be sure to check out...

New District 9 trailer. I have to say that the first one with the interrogation room scene sparked my interest a little bit more than this one.  The first didn’t really give you much of an idea what to think.  This one looks a little bit like 28 Days after Starship Troopers.  Probably just a case of first half of movie in first trailer, second half of movie in second.  I’m still...

Trailer for Big Fan. This looks great.  One thing I can’t really understand is making the thug Giants player reminiscent of Larry Fitzgerald. If you ran into Larry at a bar he’d be more likely to quietly read you a Wordsworth poem than to beat the crap out of you. Hopefully this movie will mark the end of grudgingly answering “yes, the guy from King of Queens” when...

4chan hacked Tom Green's website to post fake... →
because it’s about damn time somebody brought that Tom Green guy down a notch!  I’m sick and tired of his holy cow persona, quietly making online videos and posting them to his website after completely falling out of the public consciousness.  I’m just glad somebody finally had the gumption to kick a totally forgotten celebrity while he’s down.  The great thing about...

+ + Side note: keep an eye out for Billy Crudup during the shoot-out in the woods, he can be seen in the top righthand corner of the screen literally devouring the scenery.

Sure it’s an Independence Day tradition but if you root for the American in the annual hot dog eating contest you are a joke.

French Ong Bak II trailer.  This time with even more elephant running, plus crocodile wrasslin’.  I can now say with absolute confidence that this movie is going to be a perfect mix of Once Upon a Time in China and Wildboyz.

Puck Daddy's 2009 Free Agent Frenzy Chatter Box →
Today is the first day of NHL Free Agency.  Puck Daddy is running an impressive mash-up of mainstream media breaking news articles, blog posts, and tweets; no need to keep tabs open to fifteen different sports sites (none of them containing the letters “ESPN”). Speaking of free agents, the Sedins re-signed with the Canucks just before noon today.  Let’s go over the vitals with...

Dirty Projectors - Stillness is the Move Up there with “My Girls,” “Dragon’s Lair,” and “While You Wait for the Others” for best of 2009.  Is it just me or is the appearance of dancing (groovin’ even!) more unexpected than the llama and Hammer pants?

Pixies performing Doolittle in Europe →
Dublin, Glasgow, London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Brussels, and Paris. It’s a little off-putting that they are on year four of their reunion and milking the classics has taken the place of a new studio album.  Nonetheless, I would kill to go see this.

Jeffrey Wells calls Public Enemies "the most... →
Now, should we trust Wells’ take, or believe Lou Lumenick’s premature blog post?  Hmmm.  Personally, I’m going to go with the former, written by a reviewer who is not a despicable human being, which is pretty cool.

Clipse featuring Kanye - Kinda Like a Big Deal Posted the audio for this a while ago.  Kanye posted this video earlier today.  It’s more of a Clipse video than a Kanye video so while it fits the tone of the song much better, there isn’t nearly enough 12 year-old Japanese boy mixed with Heidi Klum flavor. Also, Kanye, due to recent events saying that you’re the...

Andrew W.K. pimping Destroy Build Destroy on Fox News. Who is this host?  I thought Fox News anchors were all stern, angry, uncles wagging their fingers at you.  When did they get the overconfident, “I’m such a character,” smile through your teeth hoping he’ll stop making jokes uncle?  The video is worth watching if for no other reason than witnessing Andrew W.K. meeting...

Antichrist is going to be a video game →
Genital mutilation is a subject long overdue for the video game treatment, so this makes a lot of sense. A little surprised that this is the first Lars von Trier movie to get its own game.  Dancer in the Dark could have been a rip-roaring escape from jail actioner with special blur effects when you take too much damage (i.e. lose your glasses).  Then it could switch over into the Parappa the...

Blur reunion videos →
Missed a week due to a medical emergency…let’s get back to it. This guy’s YouTube channel has a bunch of videos from the 150-personed Blur reunion show.  Either they were cool with the videos being taken/put online, or security was unable to prevent .5% of the people in attendance from doing something blatantly illegal for a huge chunk of the show.  Since I’ve never heard...

BioShock 2 features →
Here’s the latest info on the new BioShock game coming out in September. Multiplayer is the most interesting since it was famously absent from the original.  Should be fun (?) to “take part in the civil war that tore Rapture apart.” Every new morsel about this game just makes me slightly crazier with anticipation.

Wiebe Watch →
Two straight days of Steve Wiebe.  Weird. This is a live webcam of Steve at E3 trying to rebreak the Donkey Kong world record.  Plus you get to read the obnoxious ramblings of Justin.tv posters.  They are just as stupid as YouTube posters, only more immediate! If one commenter seems way more vicious in his Wiebe attacks, don’t be suprised if his handle is bmUSAxUSAx69.

List of Bands for Guitar Hero 5 →
Includes Band of Horses, Queen & David Bowie, and (sigh) TV on the Radio.  Let’s go, Rock Band 3, don’t disappoint, nobody wants to own both.  It’d be unforgiveable to sit on the fence during the most important video game battle since Mitchell v. Wiebe.

Newer Bruno trailer.  A little bit of an American Office vibe to it.  Not in that the situations, humor, personalities, or any other aspect of the actual projects are in any way similar at all.  The similarity is in Sacha Baron Cohen and Carrell and company continue to not disappoint/jump the shark (if Bruno jumped the shark I don’t think anybody would notice)/go stale.  A select few haters...

Harry Knowles hates Terminator Salvation →
A negative Harry Knowles review is infinitely more noteworthy than a positive one.  A negative review of a movie that gave him some type of kickback/special treatment—“I put fresh batteries in my Stan Winston/Terminator head that McG gave me at Butt-Numb-A-Thon”—is front page, above the fold news. Everyone is still going to see this opening weekend, and the effects are...

This is last night’s SNL Celebrity Jeopardy.  Happy to see it back even though it doesn’t hold a candle to the classics.  While the Connery-Trebek shtick is getting a little stale, Norm MacDonald doing anything at all remains hilarious. Also, Kristen Wiig is really funny and her impression of Kathie Lee is really spot-on, unfortunately she didn’t get any big laughs because a...

Some guy not named Kevin McKidd is playing Thor →
Oh well.  It’s the guy who plays Captain Kirk’s dad, Captain Kirk, in Star Trek.  His name is Chris Hemsworth. A little too pretty for my tastes.  He did fine in a small, albeit pivotal role in Star Trek.  I think McKidd would’ve been perfect, but I also was really hoping for a Tim Roth Joker. Branagh is still going to absolutely explode heads with this movie. UPDATE:...

Look, I’m going to see this movie; most everyone who would be sold by this trailer is going to see this movie.  It’s The Road and despite any issues, it seems like it’s been made with some care and attention.  That being said, I don’t need to know how Viggo or Charlize are going to be in the movie.  I can guess at that.  And, again, I’m going to see the movie either...
